The development history of fermentation tanks

The development of fermentation tanks is developed with the development of fermentation products and fermentation engineering. The oldest fermentation tanks can be traced back to winemaking in ancient times. The ancients made wine in clay pots, which are ancient anaerobic fermentation tanks.

From ancient times to the present, fermentation engineering has experienced three main stages: manual processing of agricultural products – modern fermentation tank engineering – modern fermentation engineering. In detail, the development history of the fermentation tank can be divided into four stages

Stage1: before 1900. Most are anaerobic fermenters because the products are only wine and vinegar.

Stage2: From 1900 to 1940. In this stage, with the emergence of products such as yeast, glycerol, citric acid, and lactic acid, there is an aerobic fermenter.

Stage3: From 1940 to 1970. With the development of the antibiotic industry, the fermentation tank has developed rapidly. At this time, the enlargement and development of the fermenter became the main part. The volume range of the fermentation tank is divided into: the laboratory scale is 1L to 50L, the pilot plant scale is 50L-5000L, and the production scale is more than 5000L. Among them, 1L to 10L tanks are mostly glass tank structures . When multiple units are run together on the experimental bench, a set of reliable experimental results can be obtained quickly for the enlargement of the fermenter.

Stage4: From 1970 to the present 1970s, the success of DNA recombination technology marked the birth of modern biotechnology. The development of the fermenter has also entered a new era, and the technical feature is that the volume of the fermenter has developed to an unprecedented scale. Since the 1990s, the development of animal cell tanks has further diversified the production of fermenters. The control technology of the fermenter is also more advanced, such as on-line gas analyzers and on-line automatic sampling and analysis devices.

Bioreactek has been in contact with fermenters since 2010. Similar to the development history of fermenters, Bioreactek’ laboratory glass fermentation products have also gone through four stages of research and development:

    1. The first generation of laboratory glass fermentation tanks:

2.The second-generation laboratory glass fermenter:In 2015, Bioreactek was fortunate to have contact with two fermenter brands, SARTORIUS and NBS, in terms of use and appearance. They have broken through the traditional fermentation tank and developed the second generation laboratory glass fermentation tank.

3.The third-generation laboratory glass fermenter : In 2017, the company redeployed the research and development of the fermenter, and invested a lot of manpower and material resources, hoping to create a new product in the same industry. Cost-effective standard fermenter products. In 2018, the third-generation fermentation tank was built.

    4.New generation laboratory glass fermenter

In order to adapt to development and meet the needs of more users, in 2019, Bioreactek further upgraded the previous fermenter products, whether in appearance design, It is still in the hardware selection, or the function development is fully transformed and upgraded. As of 2021, our laboratory glass fermentation tank has completed a full range of renovation projects, bringing users a brand new fermentation experience and visual experience.

We have gone through a tortuous journey in the direction of research and development of fermentation tanks, but fortunately we have received the support of the majority of users, so that we have been unswervingly sticking to this road of independent research and development, and we believe that our products will continue to improve to meet the needs of more and more more and more user demands.
